The Opportunity

Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller is a key member of the finance leadership team and works closely with executive leadership, senior management and governance committees to oversee the financial management of the organisation.
 
This is a hands-on operational leadership role with significant breadth and complexity. Leading a team of five finance professionals, you will be responsible for a wide range of technical accounting, reporting and compliance functions within a sophisticated corporate structure. The business operates multiple investment structures and stakeholder reporting frameworks, creating an engaging and commercially focused environment.
 
With continued growth planned across the organisation, the Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in enhancing systems, processes and reporting capabilities to support increased project volumes and operational scale.
 
The Role

The Financial Controller is responsible for leading all core financial accounting functions within a complex consolidated group structure and ensuring high-quality financial governance and reporting.
 
These responsibilities include:

  • Leading the preparation of management reporting, project and construction accounting, annual consolidated financial statements and statutory reporting requirements, while managing external audit processes
  • Overseeing finance, payroll and business systems, identifying opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiencies
  • Providing leadership and development support to a finance team spanning payroll, systems, project accounting, financial analysis and transactional finance functions
  • Supporting executive leadership with strategic financial insights, business planning and long-term financial management initiatives
  • Managing taxation compliance activities including income tax, BAS, FBT and payroll tax obligations, while liaising with external advisers on tax planning matters
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with executives, board members, investors, financiers, auditors and other key stakeholders
The Ideal Person

You are an experienced Financial Controller, or equivalent senior finance professional, with a strong background in medium to large-scale, capital-intensive organisations. Experience within property, construction or development environments will be highly regarded.
 
Alternatively, you may have gained Financial Controller experience within a complex group structure operating in project-based industries such as infrastructure, engineering, resources or energy.
 
You possess strong technical accounting capability, commercial acumen and proven leadership skills. You enjoy partnering with operational stakeholders, improving business processes and driving high-quality financial outcomes. Your communication style is pragmatic, proactive and solutions-focused.
 
This opportunity will suit an ambitious CA or CPA qualified professional seeking a hands-on leadership role within a growing and financially successful organisation.
 
Salary / Rate

  • $160k – $200k total remuneration package plus incentives
