The Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA) is a 17-member regional intergovernmental body based in the Solomon Islands. Since 1979, we have specialised in high-level policy leadership and technical expertise to secure and manage the region’s USD $3 billion annual tuna fisheries resource.
About the roleLead the Fisheries Development Division to deliver the FFA Strategic Plan and Annual Work Programme. Supervise offshore fisheries development planning, economic analysis, and market access initiatives for 17 member nations. Manage donor-funded projects to drive sustainable regional economic growth.
DutiesDirect the Fisheries Development Division to execute the annual work programme and strategic plan.
Advise member countries on offshore fisheries development and high-level economic policy.
Deliver economic analysis, intelligence, and trade advice to boost development outcomes.
Manage donor-funded project implementation, including initiatives backed by the EU and World Bank.
Report development progress to the Executive, Forum Fisheries Committee, and global bodies.
Tertiary degree in Fisheries, Economics, Resource Management, or a related field.
Executive leadership experience in public service, regional bodies, or the private sector.
Background in oceanic fisheries, trade, investment evaluation, and economic policy analysis.
Capability to negotiate and advocate with international donors and member delegations.
Prior experience living or working in remote, international, or regional contexts.
Compensation will be commensurate with skills and experience and includes a competitive salary ranging from USD $99,066 to USD $139,858 PLUS Allowances and a host of excellent benefits including:
Tax-free salary status in the Solomon Islands for international staff (subject to individual tax residency rules)
Superannuation at 7.5%, paid into your nominated fund or as a cash supplement
Full Reimbursement of medical, dental, and optical expenses for you and dependents
Comprehensive Insurance, including life, personal accident, medical, and repatriation cover
Education Allowance covering 75% of tuition fees for dependent children (conditions apply)
Paid school travel for eligible dependent children studying overseas

Relocation Expenses and an Establishment Grant on arrival
Annual Return Airfares to your home country
Retention Bonus of 21% of base salary, paid at the end of the 3-year contract
6 weeks of Annual Leave per year
Opportunity for contract renewal for a further 3 years, subject to performance and funding
