Position: APS4 Project Officer

Location: Canberra, ACT

Start date: ASAP

Duration: Approx. 12 months with potential to extend

Pay rate: $54.88 per hour plus 12% super

Overview
Our Federal Government client is seeking an APS4 Project Officer to support the delivery of commemorative services and project activities across Australia. This role combines project support, administration, stakeholder engagement, and service delivery responsibilities within a sensitive and meaningful operational environment.

Working under general direction, the successful candidate will support the delivery of commemorative services, maintain accurate records and reporting, liaise with a range of stakeholders, and contribute to project outcomes. The role requires strong organisational skills, sound judgement, professionalism, and the ability to communicate sensitively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator or project support officer looking to contribute to meaningful outcomes while developing their experience within the Australian Public Service.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of commemorative services and routine project activities.
  • Apply policies, procedures, and guidance to provide accurate, timely, and sensitive information to stakeholders.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support operational and project-related activities.
  • Maintain accurate records, reporting, and financial information within relevant business systems.
  • Assist with the collection, analysis, and reporting of operational data to support service delivery and business improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor and manage allocated tasks to ensure work is completed within agreed timeframes.
  • Support project administration activities, including documentation, correspondence, and record management.
  • Contribute to stakeholder engagement activities and maintain productive working relationships.
  • Prepare reports, briefing material, and administrative documentation as required.
  • Identify issues, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement and escalate appropriately.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, professional, and service-focused team environment.
  • Undertake additional duties as required to support operational and project objectives.
Experience/Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in project support, administration, service delivery, or a similar operational environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and administrative requirements with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build productive working relationships and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
  • Experience maintaining records, preparing reports, and using business systems to manage information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assist in research, reporting, and process improvement activities.
  • Demonstrated resilience, professionalism, and sound judgement when working in sensitive environments.
  • High level of digital literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other business systems.
  • Ability to work independently under general direction while contributing positively to team outcomes.

Desirable

  • Experience in service delivery, stakeholder engagement, project administration, or government environments.
  • Knowledge of commemorative services, cemetery and crematoria operations, or related administrative processes will be highly regarded.

Mandatory Requirement

  • Must be an Australian citizen at time of application
  • Ability to work onsite in Canberra, ACT.
  • Must have the ability to obtain/maintain a minimum Baseline security clearance
