Estimator / Pre-Construction Lead

Residential Construction Estimator and Pre-Construction.

We are seeking someone to join our residential construction business to primarily take on the role of project estimating and tender submissions.

We are a high end residential builder in the ACT region, with two arms to our business: Pichelmann Custom Building Service, and Pichelmann Maintenance & Minor Works. These two arms of the business will provide opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects from large complex custom homes, to bathroom remodeling, to rectification projects and more.

The role will have a client-facing aspect, as well as working collaboratively within the business.

The role would suit someone with experience in residential building as a tradie or builder, or an estimator looking for a better working environment!

The projects we work on are complex, and our approach to costing and customer relations is unique. We feel the role would suit an experienced tradie or builder looking for a change in lifestyle for whatever reason that may be. We will be flexible in making the role work for the best candidate.

During quieter periods, you may support the wider business across pre-construction, project reporting and process improvement initiatives aligned with your skills and interests.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed estimates and project budgets.

• Complete quantity take-offs and scope reviews.

• Manage tender submissions and client proposals.

• Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier pricing.

• Review drawings, specifications and consultant documentation.

• Support clients and project managers during pre-construction.

• Assist with cost planning, value management and project forecasting.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes.

What you'll bring:

Essential:

• Residential construction experience.

• Strong understanding of construction methods and sequencing.

• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications.

• Excellent communication skills.

• High attention to detail.

Highly regarded:

• Trade qualification in carpentry or building.

• Experience pricing custom homes or renovations.

• Estimating software experience
