Salary package: $121,359– $129,772 per annum plus 17% superannuation
Terms: Full time, Continuing (contingent funded)

Position Overview

The Senior Advisor, Research provides comprehensive senior support on a diverse range of policy-relevant research and engagement priorities. This includes applying a strong working knowledge of national security, resilience and preparedness issues and research skills to conduct policy research independently and in teams. The Senior Advisor, Research assists in the management of the NSC’s Policy and Engagement functions, working with Academic, Executive Education and Futures Hub leads in maximising research output, policy-relevance, engagement and impact, including in the context of NSC Community Consultations, conferences and events. The role is conducted in line with NSC’s services agreements with the Commonwealth and the NSC Charter, while ensuring that University, ethical and legal requirements are met.

The School

Crawford School of Public Policy is a School within CLGP and is Australia’s premier public policy school, with recognised world-class expertise and experience in economics, political science, environmental management and development, and on key Asia- Pacific countries, especially China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam and Indonesia, as well as Australia.

The National Security College (NSC), which is part of the Crawford School, is a joint initiative between the Australian Government and ANU. The College conducts programs relating to national security including executive and professional development courses, postgraduate education, futures analysis, research and policy engagement. Its mission is consistent with the national mission of the ANU and the NSC Charter. The NSC academic program is integrated with the Crawford School and NSC’s administration is positioned within Crawford and CLGP, with a strategic reporting line to VC and the NSC Advisory Board.
