LDK Seniors’ Living’s flagship village, Greenway Views, is in Greenway, Tuggeranong in Canberra, opposite the South Point shopping centre and walking distance to the Tuggeranong town centre. The village consists of 327 apartments, spread over five buildings that is about half a kilometre long from end-to-end. Greenway Views is home to nearly 400 residents over the age of 65. The village has over 6,000 square metres of communal space facilitating social connectedness and a vibrant village community. LDK delivers lifestyle-for-life through a variety of age-friendly facilities, amenities and activities for both independent and non-independent residents. On-site facilities include a gym, art centre, chapel, dance room, theatre, library, cafes,restaurants, village shed, barber shop, hairdresser, medical consultation room, grocer, purpose designed meeting spaces and a dog park.

About the role

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Maintenance Assistant undertakes regular corrective and routine planned preventative maintenance and grounds work to ensure the appearance and condition of the Village and its buildings, plant, facilities, equipment and grounds areas are of a quality standard required to provide a pleasant and safe environment for our residents, staff and visitors.

Hours of Work

The successful candidate will work the following hours: Tuesday - Friday 0830am - 1700pm, Saturday 0700am - 1500pm

Key Responsibilities

Repairs & Maintenance Tasks

  • Patch, repair, and paint surfaces, repair minor wall, ceiling, and fixture damage
  • Adjust and repair locks, latches, doors, and door closers; inspect and maintain doors, windows, and
    screens
  • Complete basic plumbing repairs (toilets, taps, minor leaks) and unblock drains
  • Undertake minor flooring repairs (carpet and vinyl) and seal gaps, joints, and penetrations
  • Replace light fittings, globes, and basic electrical accessories (where permitted)
  • Repair or replace hardware (hinges, handles, shelving) and carry out minor carpentry works
  • Install appliances, assemble flat packs, and move/reposition furniture and equipment
  • Assist with installation or replacement of fixtures and fittings

Maintenance Operations

  • Respond to, prioritise, and coordinate maintenance requests and tasks across the site
  • Complete routine inspections, record works via work orders/systems, and report defects
  • Monitor consumable stock levels and maintain asset condition and functionality
  • Escalate complex repairs to contractors and assist with scheduling and site access
  • Participate in on-call and weekend requirements and carry out other duties as directed

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Experience in undertaking facility and garden maintenance duties
  • Experience in planning and managing job allocations in a timely manner
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Sound knowledge of computer systems
  • Understanding of and empathy towards our residents and providing support with Love, Decency and Kindness
