Vanilla Pod Pizza & Pasta Bar Kingston is looking for a talented Chef to join our team and bring our Italian-inspired dishes to life. If you're passionate about food and ready to elevate our menu, we want to hear from you!

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Plan and develop menus in consultation with management and the Head Chef, considering seasonal ingredients, customer preferences, and business requirements.
• Prepare, cook, and present a wide range of pizzas, pasta dishes, breakfast items, mains, desserts, and specialty menu items to a consistently high standard.
• Monitor the quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation to ensure customer satisfaction.
• Estimate food and labour costs and assist in maintaining kitchen budgets and food cost controls.
• Order, receive, inspect, and manage stock levels of food supplies to ensure freshness and minimise wastage.
• Supervise kitchen operations during service periods and ensure efficient workflow across all sections of the kitchen.
• Train, mentor, and supervise kitchen staff in food preparation techniques, hygiene practices, and safe work procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, WHS, and HACCP requirements.
• Monitor portion control and food presentation standards to maintain consistency and profitability.
• Coordinate food preparation activities to ensure timely service for both dine-in and takeaway customers.
• Assist in developing new menu items and specials to enhance customer experience and support business growth.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment at all times.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Relevant qualification equivalent to Certificate IV or higher in Commercial Cookery, Hospitality, or a related field.
• At least two years of relevant full-time work experience as a Chef.
• Strong knowledge of commercial kitchen operations, food preparation techniques, and menu development.
• Experience in preparing a variety of Italian-inspired and contemporary Australian dishes.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
• Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
• Sound understanding of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
