The Recruitment Manager plays an important role in delivery of the Memorial’s people strategy and is responsible for overseeing and providing guidance on all aspects of the recruitment process to enable the attraction and appointment of the right people with the right skills to meet business demands. The Recruitment Manager works within the Human Resources Function under limited direction of the Head of Human Resources. The Recruitment Manager has a thorough understanding of recruitment strategies, process flows, interviewing techniques, metrics and reporting. They are committed to partnering with business leaders and hiring managers, cultivating a continuous improvement culture and positive candidate and hiring manager experience.

This position will initially be filled for 10 months, with the possibility for extension and/or permanency. 

This position is a backfill for an employee on Parental leave and as such is subject to possible extension or curtailment (subject to the Fair Work Act 2009, Section 84A and related subsections 77A(4) to (6), section 84 and section 78).

The key duties of the position include:

Under limited direction from the Head of Human Resources, the Recruitment Manager is responsible for: 

  • Leading the recruitment team.
  • Developing and implementing candidate attraction approaches to address emerging workforce requirements, including but not limited to recruitment advertising content review, position description content review, advertising platform/ sourcing recommendations. 
  • Review and maintenance of recruitment policy, processes, supporting materials and delivery of good practice to meet statutory obligations as an APS employer.
  • Guiding hiring managers through the recruitment process including the provision of advice, support and delivery of training.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely recruitment system administration and working with the Memorial's system provider (Acendre) on any issue resolution activities and/or system enhancements.  
  • Liaising with hiring managers to discuss the progress of recruitment activities and to assist in facilitating timely filling of vacancies and alternative attraction strategies if the candidate mix is not meeting requirements.
  • Providing recruitment reports and analysis and refining/ developing metrics to assist in informing recruitment management business decisions. 
  • Participation on interview panels for designated positions and others as required. 
  • Reviewing, evaluating and classifying job descriptions across a broad range of positions through benchmarking using relevant external models as appropriate.
  • Fostering a collaborative team approach to establishing and maintaining productive working relationships across the Memorial on all recruitment activities, and also with key stakeholders such as applicants, referees, recruitment agency partners.
  • Management and maintenance of merit lists and talent pools.
Eligibility
  • Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
  • All applicants external to AWM that are offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a National Police Check, even if they currently hold a security clearance. The check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
Notes

A merit pool of suitable applicants may be created which may be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.

Successful applicants engaged into the APS will be subject to a probation period.
