RGP is a consulting and technology services organisation supporting clients across digital transformation, advisory, business consulting, and technology delivery. We are growing our presence within the Australian Federal Government market and are looking for a Senior Business Development Executive to join our Canberra-based team.

This role is focused on developing and growing relationships across Federal Government departments and agencies, identifying new business opportunities, and expanding RGP’s footprint across the public sector. The role will suit someone with strong experience working within, or selling into, Australian Federal Government environments who understands how to navigate government stakeholders, procurement processes, and long sales cycles.

About the role

You will be responsible for building and managing relationships across government accounts, developing pipeline, and driving new business opportunities across consulting, digital transformation, and technology services.

 While there is an existing presence in the market, this role requires someone comfortable creating opportunities through direct engagement, networking, account planning, and partner collaboration. You will work closely with internal leadership, delivery teams, and external partners to support opportunity development and successful commercial outcomes.

 The role is based in Canberra and requires close engagement with Federal Government stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and grow relationships across Australian Federal Government departments and agencies

  • Build and manage pipeline across new business opportunities and existing account growth

  • Develop account and territory plans aligned to government priorities and client needs

  • Engage with senior stakeholders including business, procurement, and technology leaders

  • Manage opportunities through government procurement processes including panels, tenders, RFIs, and RFPs

  • Work collaboratively with partners, internal delivery teams, and leadership throughout the sales cycle

  • Identify opportunities to position broader RGP consulting, advisory, and technology capabilities

  • Maintain disciplined forecasting, pipeline reporting, and CRM management

  • Support proposal development, commercial discussions, and contract negotiations

  • Contribute to the ongoing growth strategy for RGP’s public sector business in Australia

What we are looking for

  • Australian citizen

  • Based in Canberra, or willing to spend significant time in Canberra

  • Baseline Security Clearance, or ability to obtain one

  • Strong experience working in Australian Federal Government environments either directly within government or through consulting, technology, SaaS, or services organisations supporting government clients

  • Proven experience managing complex sales or business development engagements within enterprise or government environments

  • Strong understanding of government procurement processes and stakeholder structures

  • Experience building relationships with senior government stakeholders

  • Comfortable working across consulting, technology, and transformation-related opportunities

  • Strong commercial awareness, accountability, and follow-through
