Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Outfitting Engineer to support a major capability delivery program operating across both land and maritime environments. This role is responsible for the design, integration, and installation of physical systems and equipment onto maritime platforms, ensuring operational capability can be safely and effectively deployed at sea. Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will collaborate with technical specialists, stakeholders, and industry partners to deliver practical, compliant, and mission-ready outfitting solutions that support complex maritime and amphibious operations.

Key Duties
  • Develop and manage outfitting designs for equipment, fittings, and infrastructure on maritime and amphibious platforms.
  • Design layouts, mounting arrangements, stowage solutions, and support systems for integrated capability.
  • Coordinate the integration of mechanical, structural, and auxiliary systems, including tie-downs, cradles, power connections, and handling equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, seaworthiness, certification, and platform constraints such as space, weight, and environmental considerations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to resolve design, layout, and interface challenges.
  • Support design reviews and ensure outfitting requirements are incorporated throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Review and oversee installation activities during build, upgrade, or modification phases.
  • Contribute to configuration management and change control processes.
  • Support verification, testing, and trial activities, including sea trials and operational assessments.
  • Identify, assess, and manage integration risks associated with complex engineering environments.
  • Ensure maintainability, accessibility, ergonomics, and safe handling considerations are incorporated into designs.
Skills and Experience Required
  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related engineering discipline.
  • NV1 Security Clearance.
  • Experience delivering engineering solutions involving systems integration across land and maritime domains.
  • Strong knowledge of equipment mounting and securing systems, stowage arrangements, handling systems, and space, weight, and centre of gravity considerations.
  • Sound understanding of Defence engineering and certification frameworks, ideally within a maritime environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical and structural design within constrained or complex operational environments.
  • Working knowledge of verification, testing, and trial processes.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with configuration management and change control processes (desirable).
  • Experience supporting amphibious or littoral operations environments (desirable).
