Project Support Officer

As a Project Support Officer in KBR you will assist in the delivery of critical defence projects by providing administrative and operational support. This role involves working closely with project teams and stakeholders to ensure the smooth execution of project activities. You will play an essential part in maintaining compliance, tracking progress, and supporting the team with various day‑to‑day project requirements.

This is a full‑time permanent position and can be based in either Melbourne or Canberra.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, scheduling, and coordination of project activities to ensure timely delivery.
  • Maintain and update project documentation, including plans, reports, and registers.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth communication and project progress.
  • Provide administrative assistance to project managers, including meeting scheduling, minute‑taking, and correspondence management.
  • Monitor project risks and issues, assisting in the implementation of mitigation strategies.
  • Support the monitoring of project budgets, expenditures, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with procurement, inventory management, and logistics for project‑related activities.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery.
Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge
Essential
  • Proven experience in project support, administration, or coordination roles.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • High attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • NV1/NV2 security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
Desirable
  • Previous experience in the defence or government sector.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Jira, or Primavera).
  • Understanding of defence project frameworks, such as CASG processes or ASDEFCON requirements.
  • Certification in project management will be advantageous.
