This role is inside the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), a critical national security agency. You will work alongside senior engineers across LAN and WAN environments, gaining hands‑on experience in monitoring, troubleshooting and automation under limited supervision.

What You'll Be Doing

You will join a technical team responsible for the sustainment and growth of ASD’s network infrastructure. Your work will involve installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting and automation of LAN and WAN environments.

Network Build and Sustainment
  • Assist in establishing new networks and sustaining existing LAN and WAN environments
  • Install and configure systems and network infrastructure, including hardware and software components
  • Contribute to development of installation procedures and documentation standards
Monitoring, Troubleshooting and Operations
  • Monitor, measure and report on infrastructure load, performance and security events
  • Conduct troubleshooting activities under limited supervision and contribute to resolution of operational issues
  • Carry out agreed operational procedures, including backup, restore and system software maintenance, using supplied tools and scripts
Automation and User Support
  • Automate routine system administration tasks using standard tools and basic scripting
  • Use diagnostic tools to test installations, document outcomes and record components installed and removed
  • Assist users and follow agreed escalation procedures for additional support
What You'll Bring
  • Current PV security clearance and Australian citizenship
  • Hands‑on experience provisioning, installing, configuring and maintaining infrastructure services and components in line with SFIA Level 3 expectations
  • Practical experience across LAN and WAN environments, including installation, configuration and troubleshooting
  • Experience monitoring infrastructure load, performance and security events, and contributing to incident resolution
  • Working knowledge of basic scripting and standard tools to automate routine system administration tasks
