Logistic Support Analysis Engineer

Scope and Project Background: The LAND 8710 project was created to modernise the Australian Army’s amphibious capability and enable operations across littoral environments, replacing legacy platforms with an integrated system of landing craft, amphibious vehicles, and supporting infrastructure. Within this program, a Level 3 Logistics Support Analysis Engineer plays a key role in designing and analysing the support system. They define maintenance requirements, resource needs, and logistics structures to ensure the capability is reliable, maintainable, and sustainable throughout its lifecycle, ultimately supporting operational readiness in challenging and remote environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) in accordance with applicable standards (e.g. ASD S3000L), including development and maintenance of LSA data and records.
  • Perform Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) to define preventive and corrective maintenance tasks, frequencies, durations, and resource requirements.
  • Develop and refine maintenance concepts, including allocation of maintenance levels (organisational, intermediate, depot).
  • Analyse system designs and engineering data to determine supportability requirements and constraints.
  • Conduct Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) to determine optimal repair versus replacement strategies.
  • Analyse data to identify support risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve maintainability and sustainment outcomes.
  • Define support system requirements including personnel, skills, support equipment, tools, and facilities.
  • Collaborate with Supply Support teams to ensure maintenance tasks drive accurate spares provisioning and inventory requirements.
  • Produce LSA reports, maintenance task outputs, and support system documentation to support project deliverables.
  • Provide input into engineering design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) to influence maintainability and supportability outcomes.
  • Contribute to development of technical manuals and maintenance documentation.
  • Identify and mitigate supply support risks such as obsolescence, long lead‑time items, and supply chain disruptions.
  • Provide technical advice to project stakeholders and contribute to continuous improvement of support system design.
Essential Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace) or a related discipline.
  • Formal training or experience in Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) or Supply Support Analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience performing Logistics Support Analysis, including Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) and supportability assessments within a complex Defence maritime program.
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining LSA data sets and working with LSA standards (e.g. ASD S3000L or equivalent) for ADF.
  • Comprehensive experience supporting engineering design reviews (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR) and influencing design for maintainability.
  • Experience contributing to technical documentation, including maintenance plans, LSA reports, and support system deliverables.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance concepts, including preventative/corrective maintenance and maintenance level allocation.
  • Experience conducting Level of Repair Analysis (LORA) and contributing to maintenance and sustainment decision‑making.
  • Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to translate engineering data into practical support solutions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting and stakeholder engagement.
