About the Team
  • The Section supports the automation of business process management for the Department via the delivery of ICT business solutions on enterprise‑wide strategic platforms.
  • These strategic Pega Platforms facilitate the streamlining and automation of repeatable business activities.
  • The Section achieves its goals and delivers on its objectives through:
    • The delivery of enterprise capability (applications) to support strategic business solutions along with the provision of technical support for the applications and platforms.
    • The promotion of enterprise‑wide quality engineering through Pega Best Practice design guidance and Pega Design and Development reviews via the Pega Quality & Enablement Centre of Excellence.
    • The development of internal capability and provision of training and enablement for the Pega community across the Department, building skilled APS Pega resources internally and supporting overall capability across government.
About the Role

This role will be working with a multi‑disciplinary team to ensure the successful delivery of projects and program support for portfolio business applications on the Pega Platform and Cloud Pega Platform with integrations to and from AWS infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Designing, deploying and maintaining scalable, secure and highly available Pega Platform(s) and AWS infrastructure;
  • Conducting regular security assessments and audits of cloud environments to ensure security best practices for Pega Platform(s) and AWS services;
  • Operating and upgrading cloud infrastructure components across compute, storage, and platform services;
  • Troubleshooting complex infrastructure and platform issues, perform root cause analysis, and contribute to long‑term fixes;
  • Providing guidance and resolution plans for production issues pertaining to enterprise solutions, whilst navigating effective communication with multiple stakeholders from both business and technical teams;
  • Evaluating new infrastructure and platform capabilities, working with stakeholders and external clients to ensure successful installation and maintenance of all platform components within the remit of the Section;
  • Contributing and supporting the development of solution architecture documents, interface control documents, and detailed design documents;
  • Configuring the Platform and AWS capabilities to support the development teams where required;
  • Assisting developers with change configurations and application deployment;
  • Providing operational design to bridge the gap between theoretical and operational/implementable solutions;
  • Conducting and reporting daily health checks and keeping the Pega development agile teams updated on planned activities;
  • Providing out of hours support, including a requirement to be on call, on a rostered basis.
Skills and Experience Required
  • Proven experience in implementing solutions using a variety of software and technologies including but not limited to AWS, WebSphere Application Suite, Tomcat and Web servers. RedHat Linux, MQ, Postgres SQL and UNIX
  • Proven experience supporting cloud and on‑premises infrastructure environments.
  • Minimum of 3 years hands‑on AWS Cloud Engineer or SRE experience in a commercial, SaaS environment.
  • Deep expertise designing, deploying and managing scalable AWS cloud infrastructure and services, including and not limited to; Private Links, SES, Route 53, CloudFront, ELB/ALB/NLB, VPC networking, IAM, S3, EC2/ECS/EKS, RDS/Aurora, Lambda and CloudWatch.
  • Experience operating within structured ITSM environments, including Incident, Problem, and Change Management processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in a BAU capacity for an enterprise solution, supporting multiple stakeholders from both business and technical teams.
Location and Contract Term

This role can be based in QLD, ACT, VIC, NSW & SA. 12‑month contract with 1 x 12‑month contract extension options pending budget and delegate approval.

Applicants must be Australian Citizens and hold a Baseline security clearance.
