Australian Pork Limited (APL) is the peak body of the Australian pork industry. Through integrated services including impactful research, effective marketing and proactive policy, the producer-owned body works to enable a thriving Australian pork industry. Connecting with a range of audiences, all the way from pig farmers to pork consumers, APL is constantly pursuing opportunities to sustainably grow, protect and increase consumption of Australian pork.

Explore the Opportunity

We're on the lookout for a passionate and creative Communications Officer to join our Public Relations team. In this role, you'll help to bring our brand to life by developing and delivering engaging marketing and communications content across APL's owned channels - helping to grow APL's share of voice in the market and support our broader marketing and communications strategy.

This is a 12-month parental leave contract, with an anticipated start at the beginning of August 2026. 

Here's a snapshot of your day-day activities:

  • Driving social media strategy, creative output and optimisation across Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn;

  • Building and nurturing relationships with social media influencers;

  • Keeping our consumer website fresh and up to date (Wordpress) aligned with campaign and communications objectives;

  • Supporting the logistics and delivery of stakeholder events;

  • Managing and distributing weekly and monthly e-newsletters;

  • Coordinating merchandise for events and sponsorship opportunities; and

  • Living and breathing our APL values: One APL Team | Driving Results | Curious | Future-Focused

About You

To be standout for this role, you'll be able to tick the following boxes:

  • A degree in communications, marketing or a related field.

  • 1+ years prior experience in a similar role (communications and / or social media).

  • Strong organisational and project management skills including managing budgets and timelines.

  • Proven ability to write, review and edit engaging content for digital platforms.

  • A results driven mindset, with the ability to prioritise and manage deadlines.

  • A creative eye and a genuine passion for high quality communications.

  • Experience using Canva, Mailchimp, Photoshop and Microsoft Sway.

You'll also be someone who:

  • Brings a positive, can-do attitude to everything you do.

  • Has exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.

  • Is adaptable and flexible, ready to take on the day-to-day variety the role offers.

Contract Duration, Location and Hours

This is a 12-month contract, full-time (37.5 hours per week) with flexibility to be based in either our Sydney or Canberra office.  Hybrid work options are available, offering a balance of in-office collaboration and remote work.  Some travel will be required.
