About The Organisation: It is the government entity responsible for overseeing a nation’s external engagements, supporting citizens internationally, and coordinating global partnerships and responses.

About The Role: This organisation is seeking a highly skilled APS6 Communications Officer who can quickly grasp complex and sensitive subject matter and transform it into clear, strategic messaging.

Level/Classification: APS6

Contract Type: Permanent role

Contract Duration: 12 Months + 6 Months extension

Location: Canberra, ACT

Indicative Salary: $102,266.00 – 114,988.00 + Super

Requirements
  • MUST have a minimum NV1 Security Clearance held prior to commencement
  • Ability and willingness to undergo Police Check

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with subject matter experts to understand ICT and cyber security projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to support project launches and organisational initiatives.
  • Create engaging communication products including intranet articles, internal communications, presentations, promotional materials, and awareness campaigns.
  • Provide strategic communications advice to stakeholders across multiple business areas.
  • Manage communications activities and priorities to meet project deadlines and business objectives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of communication processes, tools, and products.
  • Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Support change and adoption activities for technology and cyber security initiatives.
Skills and Experience Required
  • Demonstrated experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, or corporate communications roles.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
  • Experience developing communication plans, strategies, and content across multiple channels.
  • Ability to engage effectively with technical subject matter experts and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to work independently with limited direction.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint and related communication tools.
  • Knowledge of records management systems (EDRMS) is desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused and collaborative approach.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
