The Role

As an Estate Property Manager, you will play a key role in planning, delivering, and reviewing property-related activities that align with and support current and future organisational objectives. You will apply sound judgement and decision-making to provide trusted advice, drawing on your understanding of the property services function to support the development, implementation, and review of policies and procedures.

The role requires the ability to manage complex issues, applying strong problem-solving skills and engaging effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. At times, this may also include leading or supporting detailed or sensitive projects that influence strategic. Operational or broader Defence outcomes.

At the EL 1 level, you will lead teams and manage resources to achieve business outcomes, setting clear priorities aligned with strategic objectives. Success in this role includes fostering a positive team environment, building capability, and driving continuous improvement.

The Security and Estate Group (SEG) is the steward of the Defence Estate, the largest landholding in the Commonwealth. SEG plans, delivers, sustains, and secures the estate to enable the Australian Defence Force to defend Australia and its national interests. Our Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a capable and strategic property professional with demonstrated experience managing complex property portfolios within a legislative and policy-driven environment. They bring strong leadership skills, with proven ability to lead and develop teams, set priorities, allocate resources, and manage workflows to achieve organisational outcomes.

Highly skilled in stakeholder engagement, they can confidently negotiate and influence across diverse internal and external groups. The candidate possesses well-developed analytical abilities, enabling them to interpret complex property issues, provide sound recommendations, and drive continuous improvement.

They have experience managing contractors and consultants to deliver results and are proficient in preparing high-quality briefs, reports, and correspondence. Overall, they are results-driven, adaptable, and committed to delivering efficient, compliant, and high-quality property outcomes aligned with organisational objectives.

Security Clearance:

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.
