Details: What do we want?
The Pathways Business and Leadership College is seeking applications from suitably qualified and experienced leaders to fulfill the position of Head of Department Foundation Skills (FS) and Training and Assessment Education (TAE), commencing in as soon as is practicable. As this is an expected vacancy the successful applicant will be offered a temporary contract with the possibility of extension or permanency.
We are seeking someone who is passionate about delivering quality learning, leading and developing a highly capable team and enabling pathways for learners to transform their lives and our communities.
What will you do?
As an experienced leader, the Head of Department will enable a dedicated team of instructors, providing strategic leadership and guidance across training and assessment supporting both CIT’s workforce and the broader VET sector. Guiding two explicit fields of educational staff, considering essential learning skills to design and develop programs that build capability, confidence and future success through qualitative education.
As an experience leader, the Head of Department, will provide strategic direction and inspire a passionate team delivering training and assessment (including the Training and Assessment Education (TAE) qualifications) to prospective VET practitioners, and foundation numeracy and literacy skills to students across CIT and the community. The successful applicant will empower staff designing impactful programs that lift capability, confidence and future success for both staff and learners.
You will guide teams to deliver quality education, ensuring students develop essential workforce skills across a variety of qualification levels and learning models. With strong knowledge of VET, training and assessment, and Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital Literacy, you will champion compliance with Enterprise Agreements and RTO Standards, collaborating widely to meet organisational, industry and student needs.
As a proven leader, you will manage high-performing teams, participate in and respond to internal and external audits, drive innovation in delivery and ensure tailored, client-focused training outcomes.
What do you need?
To be successful in this position you will be able to inspire, energise and positively influence team and individual outcomes. You must be passionate about literacy and building a strong enabling educational workforce for the organisation. Demonstrated ability to lead a range of staff managing compliance requirements, relationships and best practice learning and development towards achieving CIT’s 10-year plan. Notes: This is a temporary position available from 06 July 2026 to 25 September 2026, with the possibility of extension and/or permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
